Dungeon Strategems by Silvermane

Anyone who has hung arround Dungeons long enough knows just what a ball-brackers those dungeon boses can be. Here are some pointers for those players who wish more success in their dungeon hunts:
The dungeon dream team
1 Healer. Maxed Intelligence (153), Nothing but Healing Gear. Right now he Heals for 578 with a 12% chance of improved healing.
1 Blocker. Maxed Strength (217), Highest Armor I can give him (3080). I had to sacrifice Armor for Threat and Blocking Gear (Threat 159, Block 25% Chance).
2 Attackers. Maxed Strength (310 and 320), High Skill and Damage Gear. (Damage 116 to 129).
My Charactrer Knowing I cant get any skill to even come close to the mercs I am still a level 33 (Str: 76, Skil: 110, Agi: 116, Str: 77, Cha 71, Int: 28, Armor: 2883, Dam: 99 - 114)
Here is my 2 cents on how you should set up your characters.
Healer: MAX his Intelligence. Buy the highest Intelligence healer you can find and equiped him with the highest healing Items you can find. nothign else really matters. but, do make sure you get a healer with high HPs.. At least 1800.. That healing amount is how much your healer heals each round of combat. Thats right EACH ROUND. if your healer heals for 500 he heals 500 HPS per round. thats 50k HPs in a round round fight.
Blocker: MAX his Strength. But they Highest Strength blocker you can find. I found a 45 with 193 Strength. I bet the higher levels they are higher. Then Find him all the Block, Threat and Armor items you can find. People Says Charisma is great for a Blocker. I say NO cause 10 points of Charisma = 1 point of Block. But, if you put on and Items with 14 Block. thats like having a Blocker with 140 Charisma. While you are wasting money on items with Charisma you can be putting on Strength Items. Strength Items for a Blocker to his Blocking and his Damage. The Only Function a Blocker has is to be the MEAT SHIELD ONLY!! Nothing More. He takes ALL the damage. So if his Threat is over 150 you can count on him getting hit every round, reguardless if he misses. My Blocker only has SKILL of 94 and he hits just as often as I do. Some people say HIGH Agility, SCREW THAT. Add on some Items with Hardening valuation. With hardening Valuation of 30 is like having 300 Agility. Many Items with Block, also come with hardening valuation.
Attackers: MAX his Strength, High Skill. DONT go for Skill over strength. You will be hurting your Fighters. Rememeber Every 10 Points of Strength = 1 Point of damage. Equip them with Nothing But, Strength and Damage items. Not one of my fighters have a Skill over 120. But, their Damage average is 131-150 each, Thanks to high Strength.
There is a NEW factor in the game ABSORBTION. Depending on the Armor level gives about 100 to 1.5 Absorb (+/- a Random Number). lets Take the final mob of the Cave of Dark Intrigue. The HELL DOG. His armor is Roughly around 4700. He Will have a Base absorbtion of 65 - 75, give or take a few numbers.
FYI, No Matter how high Your Skill is. You can have 327 skill (tested) if your Weapon damage is not greater then his absorbtion damage you will be hitting for 0 damage everytime.
I tested high Charisma. anything over 220 You will get 2 swings just about every round. Now if you can get your Weapon Damage from 130 to 150 and your charisma over 220. Your a god.
Now, As for you as a Dungeon Fighter. No matter what you do. you will NEVER OUT SKILL YOUR MERCS in their Fields. Dont try to be the best Healer, Blocker, or Attacker. You are a JACK of all trades. I can See You as a back up healer. Which I tested. You will always attack untill the mobs damage is greater then what yoru healer can heal in that 1 round and then you will heal the rest of the damage. But, personally i would stick him to a damage dealer. You wont be able to dish out the damage yoru mercs can. but, every Point counts.

-=TEMPLAR=- Order Elder "NoTmE" and "N=E=M=E=S=I=S Own the league of warriors

Templar Knights "N=E=M=E=S=I=S" and Old friend and tag-team partner "NoTmE" came down on level 49 "Entropy" yesterday September 3rd for the 11 thousand golden jackpot and after working as a team within the top five league of warriors levels 40 to 49 NotMe took it away as N=E=M=E=S=I=S pounded the level 49 Behemoth down to about 13 hitpoints.
According to N=E=M=E=S=I=S "Those top 5 are the toughest sons of bitches I have ever encountered in any league. I had to change strategies in the arena by puting on items with high agility, Skill, Strenth and Charisma. My Damage was the lower it has ever been since the update from 184 damage to like 134. Basicaly turned myself into a 4020 armored tank with high stats and low damage to kick some serious ass within the top 10 in order to climb to the top 5 all in less than one hour."
Call it a Blietzkrieg of sorts with a one two punch dished out by N=E=M=E=S=I=S (Level 45) and NoTme (Level 43) upon a STUNED handful of level 49 warriors.

Chents' Insights into Weapons and Gear for the Dungeons

HEALING ITEMS

purmanns, medonis, fitschis, monychustasof considerateness, of healing, of baptism, of recovery, of regeneration, of alleluia, of ingenuity, of spiritual superiority, of hypocrisyThere are prefixes and suffixes. Although they don't cover all the healing items, most are covered. I look for combinations of prefixes and suffixes for best results (e.g. purmanns .... of considerateness would give an excellent healing item).
CRITICAL HIT
strike, execution, death, fragmentation, destructionThese items give fairly decent critical attack values for the arena only (critical attack is near useless for dungeons due to the monsters huge resilience). These are good for players who are fairly weak with basic stats (they wouldn't stand any chance against really strong players with the same armour/damage items (talith of heaven set vs. talith of heaven set), however with critical damage it provides that chance). What is a critical hit? Unlike the pre-update critical hit where you do double the damage you would have inflicted, you now double your base damage. i.e. say you deal 300 damage vs. 250 absorption. Pre-update critical would mean 100 damage, however now it's 350 damage. An item like talith pendant of critical strike is a lot better than a talith pendant of heaven, due to a small decrease in armour but an increase in charisma and large increase in critical damage.
EXTRA DAMAGE
brutality, malice, apprenticeship, hell, poison, slaughteringYour dungeon attackers shouldn't be worried about defence at all! They aren't going to be hit so focus solely on attack (high damage/strength/skill and charisma if the possibility is there (base charisma of 160+, lower and you are using it more as a defence which is useless)). The above list is extra damage on items, so a talith .... of malice would be roughly 11 damage instead of 7.
CHARISMA
brightness, courage, honour, diligence, sun, belief, heaven, light, zeindras
NON-CHARISMA DEFENCE
parade, prevention, blocking, fernabasts, total defenceThese are for tankers only. It is up to you if you want a tanker in your party, it is not needed if you have a charisma healer (who only takes 1 hit).
AGILITY
delicateness, fastness, painnot the most useful skill, however it should still be considered for the arena and tankers.Don't forget talith items, just search liths.
MERCENARIEST
Tankers: if you want to go with this strategy you should look for very high strength/agility/charisma and health should be fairly good, doesn't have to be amazingly high.Attackers: You are looking for extremely high strength/skill. If you also get an attacker with high base charisma (ideally 175+) the other 2 attributes can be significantly lower. Nothing else should be considered.Healers: You are looking for extremely high intelligence (as close to 200 as possible or even higher). However if you get a healer with very high charisma as well, this is best. i.e. 175 charisma/140 intelligence is better than 100 charisma/200 intelligence. The reason behind this is that intelligence doesn't provide a huge amount of healing so you don't lose much. With 175 charisma, all that is needed is 2 items that have both charisma and healing to nullify double hit. This brings the total healing sacrifice to around 150-200, but consider that each hit of the bosses go well over 1000 damage.
STRATEGY FOR KITTING OUT MERCENARIES
Tankers: threat/block/hardening/charisma (only to as high as what you're fighting (300 ish)/strength/agility. Also equip your tanker with a good weapon (that deals damage) instead of a 30-40 damage weapon. This will help raise his threat and make him a bit more useful too.Attackers: fill strength and skill, also fill charisma if the option is there (base of 160+). While filling them, make sure you get as much damage as possible. Critical attack is useless due to the huge resilience of dungeon monstersHealers: healing/critical healing (nice and easy . If the option is there (base charisma of around 170+), which you should try to get, go for a defensive level of charisma using only 1 or 2 items (1 charisma item around +50% charisma or 2 items around 25% with healing). A defensive level of charisma is charisma equal to your opponents, 250 for ancient temple boss.
For Lower level players levels 20 trough 40
Although you won't have items such at taliths/purmanns etc, most of the "suffixes" should still be there. As for the "prefixes" you are looking for items such as bacias, Rayols, zeindras, urothiens (type "thiens" because of he accented o), beasthammer weapons, adendathiel weapons. Examples of good "suffixes" you should look for are of delicateness, of brightness, of assassination etc. From around level 30 charisma starts to dramatically increase in importance for the arena, by my level it is by faaaaaar the most important skill, vital for the arena.

Gladiatus Version 4 Dungeon Quest Tips

Gladiatus version 4 has thrilled many of us on the -=USA=- servers since it came out just as recently as a few days ago but it has left many of us quite confused.
I have been scanning the german server forums (More Experienced Players) for any info that might be helpful and the following is what I have found:
DUNGEON LEVELS AND LOCATIONS
ITALY
Level 10 - Dark Woods, Gustavos Country House
Level 20 - Mist Mountain - The Dragon Stronghold
Level 40 - Wolf Cave - The cave of dark intrigue
Level 70 - Ancient Temple - Hidden Grave
Level 70 - Tavern - Courtyard of the tavern
Level 100 - Barbarian Village - Zagrashs Fort
GERMANIA
Level 50 - Cave Temple - Dark Catacombs
Level 60 - Cursed Village - Viking Camp
Level 90 - Death Hill - Mysterious Laboratory
AFRICA
Level 30 - Voodoo Temple - Temple of Perdition
Level 40 - Blood Cave - Chamber of Pyro
Level 80 - Umpokta Tribe - Fairground
Don't let those mid levels fool you. If you are a level 30 to 40 player don't even think of venturing into the tavern guard quests because in reality you must be anywere from 20 to 30 levels above the dungeon levels to beat all the monsters and the BOSS.
I am sure some of you level 40 players have ventured into the Italian wolf dungeons with a full team of mercs and have had your asses handed to you by magical creatures who go into a rage the longer it takes you to slay them. Players who are between levels 30 and 50 should realy stay away from there until you are at least a level 70.
HIRING MERCS
Your mercs must be at much higher levels than you. The higher their level the better. You will find the best Mercs at the auctions. You can use any combination you like to suit your needs. You can hire two tanks and two bashers while you heal your team or you could have everyone be a basher and a couple of you be healer, the combinations are endless but make sure to equip your mercs with the best possible gear.
Your Medic should be loaded with inteligence stats and mods. Your Tanks should be loaded with ARMOR (Increases THREAT) and Lots of CHARISMA and Constitution. Charisma increases threat also causing the monsters to go after the tanks first before they take out the rest of your team. Even tho your Tank is a deffensive member of your team, give him the best possible WEAPON you can give him because your tank can also beat the cock out of any monster that wants to ruin your day at the dungeons.
Your Smashers should have high agility, high skill. Skill is very importan for your smashers as it increases chances of critical hits. You will find weapons and gear especialy designed for Tanks, Smashers and Healers on the auction block and or the general merchants and the open market.
High Damage points on your Smashers weapons are good as well as your TANK and yourself.
MODS and Powders
The only upgrades that will work are those that are designed for the level of your gear and weapons. For example: when looking for upgrades make sure to look at the minimum level on the upgrade so that you dont end up buying something you cant use on your mercs.
To tell you the simple truth: Be patient. Its gona cost you tons of gold and time to build up your character and build the best possible merc team so dont rush and learn as much as you can about the new stats and who should get what.
I will write more on that later so for now enjoy yourselves and becareful with those nasty pests at the local tavern.

Gladiatus Version 4 Dungeon Warfare Tips

Gladiatus server # 3 updated from version 3.3 to version 4 yesterday as I played without me hardly noticing the change until I saw those buttons on the side of my character and that is when my whole gladiatus experience changed.
Fortunately, I had been playing it in the german servers and have been scanning the euro forums (Link on the side of this page) for any hints of what version 4 was like and I gathered some valuable information.
As you have noticed, the merchants, armorer and weapons smith update their goods every 24 hours (This SUCKS) but if you are a rubie player you can just pay one rubie to update it. You will see prices on everything go through the roof due to supply and demand making this an interesting game for players who like to sell weapons, food, jewelry and now even mercenaries. Rubie players will have a huge advantage in version 4 but you will also notice that the weapons and gear that the armorer and the blacksmith crank out is realy crapy and it is one of the major complaints on the german servers.
Gladiatus version 4 also gives you the option of going into dungeons but unfortunately, most players are not ready for dungeon warfare as of yet but I will do my best to give you some hints into getting ready for the dungeons. You will see lots of players complaining about how powerful the dungeon NPC are but that is just indicative that they got their asses handed out to them for not being ready.
HINTS AND TIPS FOR DUNGEON QUESTS
Equip your main character with the best posible weapon, armor and gear you can find. Dont you dare enter into the dungeons with just a sword and a shield and without a full team of MERCS.
You will have to spend tons of gold, and or rubies to get yourself ready for the dungeons but it will be worth it because once you have a good team of mercs at your side you should be able to take on those dreaded high leveled NPC with outrageous damage points.
Plan out what role you will play in the team. Think of a navy seal team. Each man plays a special role. There are three basic things that you or your mercs will engage in.
  1. HOPLOMACHUS: Simply means HEAVY ARMORE
  2. THRACIAN: Simply means offensive SMASHER
  3. MEDICUS: Simply means MEDIC or HEALER

Your team will consist of these three roles. Decide what you are going to be. In my case I love to SMASH so I will be one of the smashers in the team. The smasher or THRACIAN should have the highest damage points possible, high strenth, high skill, high agility and high charisma. The smasher does not need allot of armor but needs to be AGILE so AGILITY is very important as well.

THE TANK or the HOPLOMACHUS is goint to take all the damage from the monster or beast that presents itself in the dungeons. Divert the monsters attention to your TANK. Give this guy the highest armor you can give him. Give him high agility and High constitution. Arm your tank well because he will serve as your shield.

THE MEDIC or the MEDICUS is the team healer. He will heal the team each round until your team takes out the beast. Give your medic high INTELIGENCE, High constitution and arm him well because the beast will go after him after he takes out your tank.

You can have up to 4 mercs in your team of 5 so you can try any amount of combinations:

In my case I would like to have 3 THRACIANS and one HOPLO with the medic for support. Equip all your mercs with the best possible equipment you can find. Dont be cheap with your team. Remember think of a navy seal team. They are very well equiped in order to function in their role. Hire the highest level Mercs you can find. In my case since I am a SULTAN (Rubie Player) I plan on hiring mercs at higher levels than me with the best possible weapons, armor and gear.

Be patient. Concentrate on equiping yourself and your mercs before you venture off into the dungeons or you will be dissapointed. Once you have your team fully equiped and ready to rock and roll then your game experience will be a happy one because from what I hear, once you know the ropes the dungeons are as easy as taking candy from a kid but the folks who say that have been playing this game way longer than we have. The folks who say that are players who are level 150 and up so just think of were you are and how far you need to go in order to dish out some pain in the dungeons.

The -=TEMPLARS=- make the top 10

"Only those bound by honor shine forth as the stars"
The -=TEMPLAR=- Order has made the top 10 guilds on terra tertia (Server #3).
The relatively small guild of outcasts and unknowns who have chosen to be part of something greater than themselves has united in the bond of honor to form one of the top guilds on Gladiatus server #3.
The Order can accomodate up to 15 members in its present level but only ELEVEN share the honor presently due to the fact that in order to be part of the Templar Order of Knights you must be accepted by the founders and Elders of the secret and reclusive order.

The Higher level members share secret knowledge of the ancients and are more experienced players than is comonly seen. The Members are all equal in rank and are bound by HONOR to one another. This is something not seen in the modern world but an order as ancient as the -=TEMPLARS=- guards many secrets hidden within the walls of the temple mount in the holy city at the center of the world: JERUSALEM.

Are you worthy enough to be part of the order?

You shall hear from us if the answer is yes.

Tutorial On Gladiatus Stats

So, you’re now a Gladiator and you’re thinking of flexing your muscles and dealing out some serious hurt to your adversaries.
The trouble is, you’re soon going to run into about 10000 other people thinking the same thing. So how do you get ahead?
Well, live up to your clan name, and start thinking a little strategically!
Like all RPG based games, your character’s stats are important since they’re what differentiate you from your opponents. The in-game explanation is rather brief, so let’s go into some more detail. Here’s what I’ve been able to gather from my 2 months of playing this game.
This guide will give you some general pointers about how you should generate your character build, and what things to concentrate on.
Level & Experience Points: This is rather self explanatory. As you gain more experience points, you’ll level up. Unlike other RPG games however, leveling up does not automatically upgrade your stats, except for your base HP level. Leveling up is mainly useful for one purpose. The items that you can see in the shops, market and auctions depend on your base level, so the higher up you go, the better items you will be able to potentially purchase.
There’s an exact formula somewhere around, don’t bother to memorize it, there are online tools that can help you with that, but I’ll get to that later.
Also, leveling up will affect your maximum stats.
The exact formula is:
Your max stats = Your level + (1.5 x base stats)
You should also consciously realize that experience is under your control by your selection of expeditions and opponents. Therefore, in certain circumstances, you may want to stop your leveling up.
This is particularly true if you’re gunning for the no 1 spot in your arena league. In general, attacking opponents 4-5 levels lower than you will allow you to raid gold, but you will receive no experience.
If you attack opponents more than 9 levels lower than you, you will receive no gold and no experience, so that’s generally not a good thing to do.
Strength:
Strength as the in-game explanation says, increases your damage and is the only direct influence of your stats on damage. However, the extra damage added by strength is quite minimal.
For every +10 points of Strength, the damage dealt is increased by +1.
Considering that strength is the most expensive stat to upgrade, and it’s the only one of all the stats that affect damage, a lot of newbies spend a considerable amount of resources upgrading strength.
I don’t particularly recommend it, since it’s a lot of money for not much gain.
I would actually put strength last to upgrade on the list unless the strength value is just at the incremental value of 9, 19, 29 etc.
Skill & Agility:
These two stats are very intertwined, so I will talk about both these skills in the same breadth. Both Skill and Agility affect the chance to hit.Your skill and your opponent’s agility affect the chance for you to score a hit.Your agility & your opponents skill affect the chance for you to be hit.
The exact formula for you to hit is:Your Skill / (Your Skill + Your opponent's Agility) x 100 [Always rounds down] In my mind, these are the two most important stats in the game.
These two should always be upgraded first, when you have the money. There’s no point having incredible damage and strength but your skill and agility is so low that you cannot score a hit.
Constitution:
Constitution directly impacts your HP level and your regeneration rate. The regeneration rate of HP is directly equivalent to your constitution, and the constitution number provides a bonus of HP to the basic HP of your level. This should not be ignored because there are two ways to lose an arena duel. Whoever gets the most damage within the battle, or whoever reaches HP less than 1 will lose the battle. I have won duels against opponents 3-4 levels higher than me simply because they don’t take care to immediately replenish their HP or because their HP levels are too low due to low constitution base stats.High constitution levels mean that you regenerate faster, and that you have a much higher tolerance to damage.
This gets more and more important as you progress up. Also, be aware that food prices increase the higher your level. At level 1-9, each point of HP would cost maybe 1-2 gold. At level 10-19, each point of HP would cost you 2-3 gold, and at level 20-29, 3-4 gold. Therefore, a higher constitution saves you gold spent on food. Due to all that, I typically upgrade constitution after skill and agility.
Charisma:
Charisma affects the chance for a double hit during the battle. The exact formula is as follows:Your Charisma - Your opponent's Charisma [0% if the result is negative] In duels where the opponent’s skill and agility are comparable to yours, charisma difference will likely be the component that determines whether you lose or win. Having an item that gives charisma bonus is usually good, but try not to sacrifice skill or agility too much. I usually upgrade Charisma after constitution, skill and agility. At higher levels, Charisma becomes important, probably more so than constitution. Around level 30 or so, there are items that will enable you to get charisma levels of beyond 100, and still maintain good levels of skill and agility. If your charisma level is around 70, and you are going up against an opponent with a charisma of 120, you're in trouble because he will be able to hit you twice every other time.Damage And Armour:Damage and Armour are pretty self explanatory. Armour reduces the damage your opponent does. These stats are primarily affected by items rather than by your base stats. These should be continuously upgraded of course, and you should get the best items that you can afford. One point to note, it's much more effective to upgrade damage via items rather than via strength, but don't totally ignore strength upgrades.Keeping a balanced build:Having said the order that I would train up the stats, I think it’s also important that I emphasize that you need to keep a balanced build. No stat should be overlooked for another e.g. don’t build up your skill and agility to ridiculous levels but deal very low damage on each strike. The upgrade order still assumes that you upgrade all stats roughly equally. As a rough guideline, I right now keep Agility & Constitution at equal levels and Skill, Strength and Charisma at equal levels. Agility & Constitution are roughly +10 above the others. This is mostly due to the cost delta’s to upgrade each one. When I go on an upgrading spree, I normally upgrade Agility, Skill, Constitution, Charisma then followed by Strength. Item bonuses can be tricky to determine. Once you reach the mid levels of 20+ above, it’s more worth it to get items that provide % upgrades rather than absolute numbers. If you’ve built up your base stats enough, these provide much more bang for the buck. Therefore, it’s really important to upgrade your base stats as much as possible during a level, don’t depend on items absolute bonuses alone. Also, don’t go overboard on the damage & amour items. High damage items usually provide a skill bonus, but they tend to be low on Armor and agility. Equipping every item with Rayol’s modifiers for instance, means that you’ll be quickly defeated if you go up against someone with high agility bonuses. Similarly, high armor items tend to be low on skill, and if you overdo it, you can absorb a lot of damage but won’t be able to place a single hit of your own.I find the following pointers work quite effectively in determining what items to get and what stats to upgrade. I assume that I am in a battle, and this is my order of priorities in the battle.

I want to hit my opponent with nearly every try (Skill).
When I do hit, I want to do as much damage as possible. (Damage)
I want to avoid my opponent's strikes (Agility).
If he does hit me, I want to mitigate the damage as much as possible and survive as many hits as possible (Armor and Constitution).
If I get a chance, I want to hit him twice (Charisma)

Gladiatus Tips and Hints By Hzarz'

The greatest source of gold is…
Well, I have mentioned this on the forums in several places. The best source of gold is actually arena fights, and raiding people. The easiest way to find good targets are usually the highscore list (once you get into it), and the other method is to use the search function available in Gladiatus. Go to the market, sort the items by price, and look who’s selling items that is slightly lower than your level. Get the player’s name, and use the search function to get his stats. If he’s beatable, take him out, and check how much you raid. If it’s a lot, then put him on your farming list and raid him the next day. Typically they think it’s a normal arena fight, so they keep the same amount of gold. Only after you hit them twice or so, do they start thinking otherwise. I think Michael can attest to this – I hit him twice for 1200 before he caught on . I can usually raid for 10-20K per day with this method, and I’m usually on for 5-6 hours. Also, make sure that you set a timer so that you can attack every 15 minutes (or 5 minutes if you’re premium).
If you're low level and you need gold, another way to get ahead really quickly is to buy up all the food you can get your hands on at the general store. At higher levels, food is really expensive, so higher level players will be willing to pay quite readily for food on the market. If you price your food at a reasonable level, say 2.5 to 3.5 gold per HP, you'll find that most people will buy your food. This will turn quite a tidy profit. With the upgrades so that you get gold packages from the market, this will help you get a head start. Of course, the downside of this is that, people your level will tend to attack you for overpricing food!
Gold is disposableTreat gold as disposable, and don’t hoard it. If you do, you just make yourself a target. Spend all your gold on items or training, and if you have leftovers, donate it to the guild. Don’t be afraid to spend your gold on good items, even if it is overpriced in the market. A good item >>>> gold any day of the week.
Deter attacks on yourselfThe most obvious ways to do this are:See above. Spend all your gold, so people don’t profit from raiding you.Keep yourself low in arena ranks so people don’t attack you for advancing places. Only make a push for arena ranking once you’ve leveled up enough.Keep a good build so that you’ll cause considerable damage to people at your level and even up to 2-3 levels higher. They may win, but you’ll cause them hurt.If you’re online, always ensure that your HP levels are at least 70% or higher. Lower HP level players always get attacked for the easy win.
Always stock up foodAlways check the store for food and always keep at least 4-5 food items in your backpack. To make sure you’re getting the best price, divide the price of food by the HP it gives back, then always buy the items that give the most value for money. This value will steadily increase as you level up, so you need to get a good idea what the baseline at your level will be. At level 10-19, it was around 2.5-2.8 Gold per HP, and at level 20-29, it’s around 3.0 - 3.4 Gold per HP.
How to win AuctionsContrary to popular belief, there is a systematic way to win auctions. I have won approximately 80-85% of all auctions I have participated in. The key is this:
Very short durations are always 25-30 minutes long and all durations are fixed.
Once the auction turns to short, refresh the page every 5 minutes. As soon as you see the time remaining change to Very Short, set a timer for 20-25 minutes (depending how tense you are). Watch the bidding carefully around this time, as it will typically get a little frantic. DO NOT bid before the timer runs out, despite the temptation. Once the timer runs out, then bid on the item you want. Always bid high, at least 50% over the current bid.
If you're short on time, then the auction durations below are another way to calculate when the auction ends. As long as you can catch the stage where it transitions from one to the other, you will be able to work backwards from this.

Long - 2
hour Middle - 2
hour Short - 1.5
hour Very short - 0.5 hour

Use temporary boosts to up statsFor some reason, most people do not appear to use boosts, presumably because they cost gold, and are only temporary. However, I strongly encourage their use.
Spending 1000 gold for 8 hours of +4 skill is well worth it in my mind. I get back 1000 gold via an single expedition and to train up my base stats for a +4 bonus will cost me easily 30-40K gold. Also, because of the lack of popularity, boosts can be bought very cheaply at auctions, since nobody wants to buy them. I recently spent just 1600 gold to get boosts of +4 skill and +4 agility for 8 hours. Money well spent, in my mind. Also, if your strength is say at 28, then it’s worth it to spend the money for a +2 boost that will give you the extra +1 damage.

Templar Knights: "NoTmE' and "N=E=M=E=S=I=S Dominate the arena

"No one wins without sacrifice"
Two old friends have reunited once again to dominate the arena in the league of Butchers levels 20 - 29.
Templar Knight Founder and Elder "NoTme" is a master tactician and "N=E=M=E=S=I=S" is as swift as a viper when he strikes foes many times stronger most times 3 to 4 levels above his own.
"I owe everything I know to my brother at arms "NoTme". "I have been his pupil in the arts of warfare since my younger years and I reaguard him as my master pertaining to all things to do with the market and warfare on server #3 of the game Gladiatus in the US."
Altho the Order of The Temple knights is a relatively new guild it is cranking out champions due to the fact that most of the Knights accepted into the order have a great deal of experience and their prowess in the arena says more than all the words writen here.
We are honorable men in war and in peace we remain brothers at arms and deffenders of the Temple and the faith.
Romans 13:12
12 "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."
