Tutorial On Gladiatus Stats

So, you’re now a Gladiator and you’re thinking of flexing your muscles and dealing out some serious hurt to your adversaries.
The trouble is, you’re soon going to run into about 10000 other people thinking the same thing. So how do you get ahead?
Well, live up to your clan name, and start thinking a little strategically!
Like all RPG based games, your character’s stats are important since they’re what differentiate you from your opponents. The in-game explanation is rather brief, so let’s go into some more detail. Here’s what I’ve been able to gather from my 2 months of playing this game.
This guide will give you some general pointers about how you should generate your character build, and what things to concentrate on.
Level & Experience Points: This is rather self explanatory. As you gain more experience points, you’ll level up. Unlike other RPG games however, leveling up does not automatically upgrade your stats, except for your base HP level. Leveling up is mainly useful for one purpose. The items that you can see in the shops, market and auctions depend on your base level, so the higher up you go, the better items you will be able to potentially purchase.
There’s an exact formula somewhere around, don’t bother to memorize it, there are online tools that can help you with that, but I’ll get to that later.
Also, leveling up will affect your maximum stats.
The exact formula is:
Your max stats = Your level + (1.5 x base stats)
You should also consciously realize that experience is under your control by your selection of expeditions and opponents. Therefore, in certain circumstances, you may want to stop your leveling up.
This is particularly true if you’re gunning for the no 1 spot in your arena league. In general, attacking opponents 4-5 levels lower than you will allow you to raid gold, but you will receive no experience.
If you attack opponents more than 9 levels lower than you, you will receive no gold and no experience, so that’s generally not a good thing to do.
Strength:
Strength as the in-game explanation says, increases your damage and is the only direct influence of your stats on damage. However, the extra damage added by strength is quite minimal.
For every +10 points of Strength, the damage dealt is increased by +1.
Considering that strength is the most expensive stat to upgrade, and it’s the only one of all the stats that affect damage, a lot of newbies spend a considerable amount of resources upgrading strength.
I don’t particularly recommend it, since it’s a lot of money for not much gain.
I would actually put strength last to upgrade on the list unless the strength value is just at the incremental value of 9, 19, 29 etc.
Skill & Agility:
These two stats are very intertwined, so I will talk about both these skills in the same breadth. Both Skill and Agility affect the chance to hit.Your skill and your opponent’s agility affect the chance for you to score a hit.Your agility & your opponents skill affect the chance for you to be hit.
The exact formula for you to hit is:Your Skill / (Your Skill + Your opponent's Agility) x 100 [Always rounds down] In my mind, these are the two most important stats in the game.
These two should always be upgraded first, when you have the money. There’s no point having incredible damage and strength but your skill and agility is so low that you cannot score a hit.
Constitution:
Constitution directly impacts your HP level and your regeneration rate. The regeneration rate of HP is directly equivalent to your constitution, and the constitution number provides a bonus of HP to the basic HP of your level. This should not be ignored because there are two ways to lose an arena duel. Whoever gets the most damage within the battle, or whoever reaches HP less than 1 will lose the battle. I have won duels against opponents 3-4 levels higher than me simply because they don’t take care to immediately replenish their HP or because their HP levels are too low due to low constitution base stats.High constitution levels mean that you regenerate faster, and that you have a much higher tolerance to damage.
This gets more and more important as you progress up. Also, be aware that food prices increase the higher your level. At level 1-9, each point of HP would cost maybe 1-2 gold. At level 10-19, each point of HP would cost you 2-3 gold, and at level 20-29, 3-4 gold. Therefore, a higher constitution saves you gold spent on food. Due to all that, I typically upgrade constitution after skill and agility.
Charisma:
Charisma affects the chance for a double hit during the battle. The exact formula is as follows:Your Charisma - Your opponent's Charisma [0% if the result is negative] In duels where the opponent’s skill and agility are comparable to yours, charisma difference will likely be the component that determines whether you lose or win. Having an item that gives charisma bonus is usually good, but try not to sacrifice skill or agility too much. I usually upgrade Charisma after constitution, skill and agility. At higher levels, Charisma becomes important, probably more so than constitution. Around level 30 or so, there are items that will enable you to get charisma levels of beyond 100, and still maintain good levels of skill and agility. If your charisma level is around 70, and you are going up against an opponent with a charisma of 120, you're in trouble because he will be able to hit you twice every other time.Damage And Armour:Damage and Armour are pretty self explanatory. Armour reduces the damage your opponent does. These stats are primarily affected by items rather than by your base stats. These should be continuously upgraded of course, and you should get the best items that you can afford. One point to note, it's much more effective to upgrade damage via items rather than via strength, but don't totally ignore strength upgrades.Keeping a balanced build:Having said the order that I would train up the stats, I think it’s also important that I emphasize that you need to keep a balanced build. No stat should be overlooked for another e.g. don’t build up your skill and agility to ridiculous levels but deal very low damage on each strike. The upgrade order still assumes that you upgrade all stats roughly equally. As a rough guideline, I right now keep Agility & Constitution at equal levels and Skill, Strength and Charisma at equal levels. Agility & Constitution are roughly +10 above the others. This is mostly due to the cost delta’s to upgrade each one. When I go on an upgrading spree, I normally upgrade Agility, Skill, Constitution, Charisma then followed by Strength. Item bonuses can be tricky to determine. Once you reach the mid levels of 20+ above, it’s more worth it to get items that provide % upgrades rather than absolute numbers. If you’ve built up your base stats enough, these provide much more bang for the buck. Therefore, it’s really important to upgrade your base stats as much as possible during a level, don’t depend on items absolute bonuses alone. Also, don’t go overboard on the damage & amour items. High damage items usually provide a skill bonus, but they tend to be low on Armor and agility. Equipping every item with Rayol’s modifiers for instance, means that you’ll be quickly defeated if you go up against someone with high agility bonuses. Similarly, high armor items tend to be low on skill, and if you overdo it, you can absorb a lot of damage but won’t be able to place a single hit of your own.I find the following pointers work quite effectively in determining what items to get and what stats to upgrade. I assume that I am in a battle, and this is my order of priorities in the battle.

I want to hit my opponent with nearly every try (Skill).
When I do hit, I want to do as much damage as possible. (Damage)
I want to avoid my opponent's strikes (Agility).
If he does hit me, I want to mitigate the damage as much as possible and survive as many hits as possible (Armor and Constitution).
If I get a chance, I want to hit him twice (Charisma)

Gladiatus Tips and Hints By Hzarz'

The greatest source of gold is…
Well, I have mentioned this on the forums in several places. The best source of gold is actually arena fights, and raiding people. The easiest way to find good targets are usually the highscore list (once you get into it), and the other method is to use the search function available in Gladiatus. Go to the market, sort the items by price, and look who’s selling items that is slightly lower than your level. Get the player’s name, and use the search function to get his stats. If he’s beatable, take him out, and check how much you raid. If it’s a lot, then put him on your farming list and raid him the next day. Typically they think it’s a normal arena fight, so they keep the same amount of gold. Only after you hit them twice or so, do they start thinking otherwise. I think Michael can attest to this – I hit him twice for 1200 before he caught on . I can usually raid for 10-20K per day with this method, and I’m usually on for 5-6 hours. Also, make sure that you set a timer so that you can attack every 15 minutes (or 5 minutes if you’re premium).
If you're low level and you need gold, another way to get ahead really quickly is to buy up all the food you can get your hands on at the general store. At higher levels, food is really expensive, so higher level players will be willing to pay quite readily for food on the market. If you price your food at a reasonable level, say 2.5 to 3.5 gold per HP, you'll find that most people will buy your food. This will turn quite a tidy profit. With the upgrades so that you get gold packages from the market, this will help you get a head start. Of course, the downside of this is that, people your level will tend to attack you for overpricing food!
Gold is disposableTreat gold as disposable, and don’t hoard it. If you do, you just make yourself a target. Spend all your gold on items or training, and if you have leftovers, donate it to the guild. Don’t be afraid to spend your gold on good items, even if it is overpriced in the market. A good item >>>> gold any day of the week.
Deter attacks on yourselfThe most obvious ways to do this are:See above. Spend all your gold, so people don’t profit from raiding you.Keep yourself low in arena ranks so people don’t attack you for advancing places. Only make a push for arena ranking once you’ve leveled up enough.Keep a good build so that you’ll cause considerable damage to people at your level and even up to 2-3 levels higher. They may win, but you’ll cause them hurt.If you’re online, always ensure that your HP levels are at least 70% or higher. Lower HP level players always get attacked for the easy win.
Always stock up foodAlways check the store for food and always keep at least 4-5 food items in your backpack. To make sure you’re getting the best price, divide the price of food by the HP it gives back, then always buy the items that give the most value for money. This value will steadily increase as you level up, so you need to get a good idea what the baseline at your level will be. At level 10-19, it was around 2.5-2.8 Gold per HP, and at level 20-29, it’s around 3.0 - 3.4 Gold per HP.
How to win AuctionsContrary to popular belief, there is a systematic way to win auctions. I have won approximately 80-85% of all auctions I have participated in. The key is this:
Very short durations are always 25-30 minutes long and all durations are fixed.
Once the auction turns to short, refresh the page every 5 minutes. As soon as you see the time remaining change to Very Short, set a timer for 20-25 minutes (depending how tense you are). Watch the bidding carefully around this time, as it will typically get a little frantic. DO NOT bid before the timer runs out, despite the temptation. Once the timer runs out, then bid on the item you want. Always bid high, at least 50% over the current bid.
If you're short on time, then the auction durations below are another way to calculate when the auction ends. As long as you can catch the stage where it transitions from one to the other, you will be able to work backwards from this.

Long - 2
hour Middle - 2
hour Short - 1.5
hour Very short - 0.5 hour

Use temporary boosts to up statsFor some reason, most people do not appear to use boosts, presumably because they cost gold, and are only temporary. However, I strongly encourage their use.
Spending 1000 gold for 8 hours of +4 skill is well worth it in my mind. I get back 1000 gold via an single expedition and to train up my base stats for a +4 bonus will cost me easily 30-40K gold. Also, because of the lack of popularity, boosts can be bought very cheaply at auctions, since nobody wants to buy them. I recently spent just 1600 gold to get boosts of +4 skill and +4 agility for 8 hours. Money well spent, in my mind. Also, if your strength is say at 28, then it’s worth it to spend the money for a +2 boost that will give you the extra +1 damage.

Templar Knights: "NoTmE' and "N=E=M=E=S=I=S Dominate the arena

"No one wins without sacrifice"
Two old friends have reunited once again to dominate the arena in the league of Butchers levels 20 - 29.
Templar Knight Founder and Elder "NoTme" is a master tactician and "N=E=M=E=S=I=S" is as swift as a viper when he strikes foes many times stronger most times 3 to 4 levels above his own.
"I owe everything I know to my brother at arms "NoTme". "I have been his pupil in the arts of warfare since my younger years and I reaguard him as my master pertaining to all things to do with the market and warfare on server #3 of the game Gladiatus in the US."
Altho the Order of The Temple knights is a relatively new guild it is cranking out champions due to the fact that most of the Knights accepted into the order have a great deal of experience and their prowess in the arena says more than all the words writen here.
We are honorable men in war and in peace we remain brothers at arms and deffenders of the Temple and the faith.
Romans 13:12
12 "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."

Pirate Harbor: "More than just a pirate hangout"

One of the best places to look for random objects on Tavern Quests is the Pirate Harbor. Some items are location specific, like the wolves tooth you find at the wolve cave and the barbarian necklaces you find at barbarian village and so forth but Im talking about Items that the Tavern or other NPC requests like Gloves, copper bracers of this and that and those random objects that are not location specific, you will find at Pirate Harbor.
You can find them at the temple as well but if you want a quick in and out Quest with no hassles then head for the Pirate Harbor.

Tip of the Day: How to find those pesky Desserters

If you play Gladiatus as much as I do and have found yourself in the middle of a tavern mission offering you high experience points and a good chunk of gold well don't lose heart.
I will show you a trick that will help you fish out these critters faster than you can say Bin Ladden.
When you go on your quest to find the desserters or Traitors deppending on what level you are at, what you do is simply swich locations randomly. Example: Head for Misty Mountain then Bandit Camp then Pirate Harbor then back to Misty then Bandit camp so on and so forth.
I have found that between those three spots the percentage tends to be higher for some reason. The Ancient Temple and Barbarian Camps are Harder Quests than normal so just visit those three one after the other and you should have 3 or 4 of those little devils in your pocket in no time.
Do not cancel out desserter missions because they offer you higher experience points than most other missions and usualy come with a nice bag of gold if you are level 19 and up.
The only time you should cancel a desserter mission is when you are a level 19 just shy of leveling up to level 20. In that case you may not even find them anymore after you level up to 20 because your NPCs Change.

The Dark Side Of Gladiatus

I have been playing the browser game otherwise known as "Gladiatus" for close to six months now and have found it to be quite entertaining and challenging.
The dynamic gameplay is ADDICTING and as anything ADDICTING some folks who play this game usualy exhibit some unusual side effects.
The fact that you can send messages to friend and foe is great but it can be quite annoying as well. The game lacks a way for you to ignore abusers unless you get those rubies, but even then altho you can ignore the messages you can't ignore the constant BASHING of an individual who is usualy at a higher level than you, sometimes as high as 7 to 10 levels above you and their sole purpose in life is to make your game experience very unpleasant.
What are some things that you can do to avoid the 'PSYCOS' in the game gladiatus?
  1. Do not respond to any of their attacks or messages to you. This is what these Psycos seek: ATTENTION.
  2. Keep track of how many times they attack you keeping a record of their attacks and altho they can BASH you 5 times in 24 hours they can be banned for doing so every day in the course of a week.
  3. Do not message them. Don't have any conversations with these people. If you lose your temper and write something nasty to them they will report you. Remember their whole purpose is to somehow affect you personaly.
  4. Visit the forums and become familiar with the game rules and regs. Talk with the game operator in your server if you are being bashed more than 5 times in a 24 hour period or being attacked continualy by the same person for a period of 5 days or more.
  5. Remember, this is just a game. It is entertainment so dont take nothing personal. Exploit the fact that they take all your life hit/points by doing your equipment upgrades and stat upgrades at those times when you have no more life points.

If the Psyco is starting to get to you, simply put away all your left over gold into your guild and head for the stables and take a brake from the game.

And finaly, if you can find someone who is able to beat down that Psyco do it. Hire him if you have to its worth it. HIRE A MERC.

What is up with those groovie rubies?

Allot of us have climbed the proverbial Gladiatus ladder the hard way: "BY THE SWEAT OF OUR BROW" and somehow this devilish little free game we all come to know as Gladiatus has tought us to be patient. Those 15 minute cooldowns gave us a chance to grab a beer or chat on the phone while the clock ticked on.
All that changed the day we gave in to that ultimate desire: "To break out the credit card and buy those RUBIES" $79 bucks will get you 1000 of those little red devils and all of a sudden your whole gaming experience has gone to the next level.
No more waiting for the auction clock, hell just buy that Sword of Brutality with 60 damage points out with just 50 rubies and a couple thousand gold rocks. No more waiting on the market and with a wait of just 5 minutes for arena bouts if you are a CENTURION its just HOG HEAVEN.
Somehow those rubies make you forget all the time you spent waiting and learning to be patient in an instant faster than the bat of an eye as you gain experience points faster than you can say Gladiatus.
All that is well and good but what happened to those beautiful qualities you attained while playing this devilishly evil game before you became a SULTAN?
Here are just a few pointers for those of you who are brave and bold enough to buy those rubies:
  • The best time to buy rubies is when you are at least a level 20 in the game.
  • Use those Rubies to make you RICH RICH RICH... Weapons with high damage points and huge bonuses like +5 STRENTH and +5 Skill are very popular.
  • My personal favorite blessings include: BLESSING OF APOLLO To crank up your max expedition points. SEAL OF THE PATRICIAN is great for getting new goods from the store every half hour instead of the 60 minute wait period. Honors of the BEZERKER gives you Higher damage points than most folks in your level. And the Secret knowledge of the Ancients to speed up your experience points as well as being able to see higher level weapons than normal (Two levels above the normal level).
  • Spending the 14 rubies for 15 days to become a Temporary CENTURION is a good idea as well.

If I had to do it all over again I would have waited till I was level 20. That is when you get thos nice blessings that I like. Especialy the one for finding artifacts. Are they worth it? I would say a big YES. Will they change the way you play? YES. And you will feel the pang of not having those rubies most harshly after they run out and you have no more patience to wait for the store to change its goods or at the arena.

Once you become a SULTAN there is no going back to the waiting game.
